Bản đồ mô tả hình thái các đảo và mức thủy triều xung quanh các đảo Hoàng Sa, Phú Lâm & Hữu Nhật thuộc quần đảo Hoàng Sa. Bản đồ được vẽ từ số liệu của Đoàn khảo sát thủy văn Đông Dương năm 1938, dưới sự chỉ huy của ông P. Couillault kỹ sư thủy văn và ông J. Aubertin thuyền trưởng tàu Corvette.

Trong báo cáo của TS. Raoul Serène – Nguyên giám đốc Viện Hải dương học Đông Dương – năm 1953, tấm bản đồ này liên quan đến các chuyến khảo sát chuẩn bị cho xây dựng hải đăng, trạm vô tuyến TFS và trạm khí tượng trên quần đảo Hoàng Sa năm 1938 theo Nghị định số 3282 do Toàn quyền Đông Dương Joseph-Jules Brévié ký.

Maps of Pattle Island, Paracel islands, 1938 – 1939

A map of the morphology of the islands and tidal levels around Palte island, Woody island and Roberd island in the Paracel islands. The map was based from data collected by the Indochina Hydrographic Survey in 1938, under the command of P. Couillault, a hydrographic engineer, and J. Aubertin, the captain of the Corvette.

According to a report by Dr. Raoul Serène, former director of the Indochina Oceanographic Institute, in 1953, this map was produced in connection with surveys conducted in 1938 in preparation for the construction of a lighthouse, a TFS radio station, and a meteorological station in the Paracel islands, in accordance with Decree No. 3282 signed by Governor-General of Indochina Joseph-Jules Brévié.
